TIERENTEYN / Belgian “Stropkes” Mustard

The Stropkes mustard, crafted by Ferdinand Tierenteyn in the same tradition since 1818 in Gent, is now traveling beyond the medieval alleyways of the ancient capital of Flanders.

Ferdinand Tierenteyn selects among the dozens of varieties of mustard to create its secret combination of brown and white seeds. Contrary to most mustard recipes, the seedcoats are retained in the extra fine grinding process. This gives the product its bite, color and surprisingly smooth texture. The result is a mustard unique in its ability to deliver a kick, while being subtle enough not to bring tears to the eyes, nor to overpower the flavors of other foods on the plate.
